As he rode into
Dunphyville, Dan
Harrigan noted the broken windows, smashed doors, collapsing verandas.
The blacksmith's shop had been set on fire, the saloon wrecked, and the
general store shot up. He nodded knowingly. There were only a dozen
buildings in this small town, but they all bore the mark of Angus
"Black" MacTee. Dan Harrigan and Angus MacTee were friends and
partners once, but their mutual love for pretty Kate Malone had turned
them into mortal enemies. Forced to join together in a grim fight to
save Kate's life, both men turned their rage on each other - and a
tornado couldn't have done more damage!

I talk about "Black" MacTee anymore, I'm going
to do something to make Dan Harrigan a little bit
redder, you Irish son of a hoopsnake! |

"Barry
Corbin is
a Max Brand hero incarnate. His reading is so easy to listen
to you don't want these short stories to end.
Craven outlaws, bloodthirsty bandits and, of course, beautiful
women are all portrayed equally well in Corbin's
resonant voice. Character accents and genders are easily
identified."
- S.C.A. AudioFile
Magazine, March 1996.
"Listeners who enjoy the nearly lost art of storytelling
will treasure this collection of Max Brand stories written in
the 1930's. Perhaps a generation of new listeners, especially
young adults, will also get to know these classics.
Actor
Barry
Corbin
is the
perfect reader for the material. He has a tough gravelly
voice, and his delivery and pacing lure the listener into the
atmosphere of the turn-of-the-century West of bloodthirsty
bandits, brave cowboys and beautiful women."
